Distortion Mag is the result of an online music magazine’s desire to offer their readers a new way to experience their work. The resulting layout and design centered on the tactile nature of printed material, highlighting the multifaceted sensuality of the printed page by using text, image treatment, and layered textures to create an immersive reading experience. The duotone image coloration was chosen so that the reader could focus more clearly on the design elements that aren’t as accessible when viewing an article online, namely the texture of the page and the subtlety of the shifting colors.
